Sydney Cox Emotional Final Round
Cox’s 2nd round was peerless in the WAPT field. Seven birdies and one bogey gave her a six-under round, with the rest of the field 10 strokes behind her into the final round.
Cox stared at breaking a 9-year winless streak into the final round. Hannah Arnold quietly made a charge, birdieing the first and a birdie train to finish the front nine at four under, with Cox going two over par.
Her lead cut down to four strokes, with it dropping by five strokes over the previous three holes, the 8-year professional responded.
Knocking it to 12 feet and converting the birdie, Cox pushed her lead back to five. Arnold bogeyed 11 and 12, and the Oklahoma native played the rest of the way at even par, to secure her seven-stroke victory.
The final APT/WAPT event begins next week in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at Indian Springs-River course in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
