Sam Fidone slowly but surely improved his scores over the first three rounds: 5 under, 7 under, and 8 under. His third round effort was one off the course record and built him a 9 shot lead. That lead shrunk to two strokes on the 17th, with Fidone airmailing the green to a pin tucked back right.
His chip left him 8 feet, and he made the come backer to uproarious applause from the entourage of locals following him. He signaled with his hands to keep the momentum going, and that’s exactly what he did to secure a par at the final hole, and take him his second victory of the year.
After all of the celebrating, what did Fidone do? Do what any local kid would do after a 9:09 tee time: go play 18 more with his buds.
