(Alexandria, LA) – It was the final round of the Coke Dr. Pepper Open at OakWing Golf Club. With many players still in contention to win the round presented a fun day ahead. Players battled it out for the top prize of $35,000 and the $160,250 total purse.
Throughout the tournament Greg Eason (Kissimmee, FL) consistently posted low rounds 68/66/63/68 (-23) to ultimately give him the victory. Max Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany) gave a final round charge posting, but found trouble on his final hole of the tournament. Max finished 68/65/68/65 (-22) to win outright second place.
Going into the day Greg Eason held a two shot lead but was tested throughout the day by Max Rottluff. Max started the day with a birdie and would find a grove until he ran into trouble on the par 5 9th. Max took his third shot from the penalty area but was able to get up and down to save par to cap off a 32 through the front nine. Greg got off to a slow, but steady start as he only birdied two of his first nine to finish with a 34 on the front. The two then battled back and forth for a few holes as Max birdied the par 5 16th and Greg bogied the par 4 15th. It came down to the final hole where Max found himself with a 16-footer to save par, but couldn’t manage to put it down. Greg then piped a drive down the fairway and left himself with a two-putt par to win the tournament by one shot.
