MUSKOGEE, OK – The Health and Wellness Center (HWC) of Oklahoma partnered with the All Pro Tour this year as the title sponsor of the Real Okie Championship hosted at the Muskogee Golf Club. The Health and Wellness Center is set to be the recipients of the funds raised from the Pro-Am events for their charitable foundation, held on Monday, May 9 and Tuesday, May 10.
HWC provides all inclusive medical care to low income and vulnerable populations in Southeast Oklahoma. They have been the Real Okie Championship title sponsor for two consecutive years and the funds raised last year had a tremendous impact on the community.
Last year’s proceeds went towards funding a new Substance Abuse Treatment Facility in the area, and during this year’s Real Okie Championship, it was announced that the first residents of the new facility were moving in to begin the life changing treatment the Health and Wellness Center hopes to provide.
“This is important to me because I have a heart for rehabilitation, and being able to come here and promote that is amazing for our area and state,” said Teresa Huggins, HWC Chief Executive Officer and longtime supporter. She has been with the organization since it started 17 years ago in 2005.
The Health and Wellness Center staff, Muskogee Golf Club staff, and the Muskogee community showed up in full force to help host and volunteer at the week’s All Pro Tour Event. From food, to shuttles, to live scoring, they provided it all, and the event could not have happened without everyone that gave their time and efforts to support our Pro’s and this organization.
“Seeing everyone come out and working toward a goal and supporting this mission is special,” said Huggins. “It has been a blast, and it has been great for our team to get out and be in the community. Just to hang out and talk and get to know people and to strengthen our bond with the community.”
The proceeds from this year’s event will go toward continuing this program and helping to fund needs of the residents in the Substance Use Disorder Center, so those who need it most, in a very vulnerable situation can benefit from the good it will do.
