How pro golfers are giving back at an Alexandria soup kitchen

“Pro golfers Andrew Beckler, Philip Barbaree and Charlie Flynn thought they were volunteering at Manna House to make a difference in other people’s lives, but found that serving also made a difference in theirs.

They are among the 132 pro golfers here in town for the 21st annual Coca-Cola Dr. Pepper Open All Pro Tour at Links on the Bayou golf course. The tour a signature fundraising event for Manna House.

The tournament purse is expected to be $130,000 with the champion taking home a minimum of $20,000, states an APT press release.

Beckler and Barbaree peeled potatoes while Flynn sliced them into pieces for meals that will be prepared at that non-profit that provides free meals to those in need. “
