Paragon Casino PDS Gaming Championship: Round 2

(Marksville, LA)- The second round of the Paragon Casino PDS Gaming Championship has concluded, and the wind once again proved to be a major challenge for the golfers. With overcast skies setting the weather conditions early on, players had to navigate their club selections and shot placement effectively.

Alex Price of Baton Rouge, Louisiana seemed to have done just that - firing a bogey-free 5-under par 66 to take the lead.

“The wind played a little factor in my game. There are some winds that I’m not as comfortable with as others which makes it hard for me to be aggressive, but overall I just try to not let conditions change how I approach my game,” said Price. "I’m just going to do what I’ve done the last two rounds and stick to my process for the next couple days. And focus on what I can control and do my best to accept what happens regardless of whether it’s good or bad.”

Cecil Belisle (Red Wing, MN) also found his way to work with the wind, carding a  5-under 66 to climb the leaderboard. Having the biggest jump of the day to move up 39 spots, the University of Kansas grad now sits in T6 heading into the third round.

Belisle started his round with a hot start making a birdie on the first hole, setting the tone for a solid front nine performance. He went on to make three more birdies on holes 3-5, before turning in a bogey-free four-under 31 at the turn.

“The course played softer today and I felt the greens had a little more friction to them. A couple of the tees were moved up on holes 6 and 13 which I thought helped with being more aggressive into those greens. There were a few putts yesterday that I felt I was more on the defensive side because the wind was really challenging and the greens were a little drier,” said Belisle.

The Minnesota native carded a 1-under 35 to finish the round, making an eight stroke improvement from the previous round.

“The difference with my game today was that I was more present and in good control of my emotions and thoughts. I would say when I did have a negative thought about the round or letting the round go, I was able to control my mindset and shift it back to the thoughts and feelings that I wanted to feel. I also made a few more putts than yesterday’s round,” said Belisle.

The third round will begin at 8:00 AM CT with leaders teeing off at 9:28 AM. Players will be paired according to score. Follow along on our socials: Instagram @allprotourgolf Twitter @AllProTourGolf
