‘Passion, conviction’ have Shreveporter primed for second chance on PGA Tour feeder series

“Thursday, former Byrd and LSU star Philip Barbaree Jr. will tee it up in Victoria, British Columbia, to kick off the North American portion of PGA Tour Americas.

Barbaree qualified with his T9 finish at Q-School in Soboba Springs, Calif., earlier this month. After 72 holes, he birdied the first hole of a nine-man playoff to earn a second shot at a PGA Tour feeder circuit (he played the former-PGA Tour Canada in 2022).

His first foray north of the border was just two years ago, but it likely seems like two lifetimes ago for Barbaree, the 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur champion.”
