Ng takes first professional win at Eagle Ops Championship
(Broken Arrow,OK) – The final event of the All Pro Tour regular season wrapped up at Indian Springs Country Club. With a full field for the Eagle Ops Championship, Ethan Ng was able to stay at the top of the 153 player leaderboard to clinch his first professional win. Ng, a recent graduate from Stanford, only played one other APT event at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois Championship in Peoria, IL.
“It feels amazing to have won this tournament, it’s honestly a dream come true. I’ve just been putting in a lot of work over the summer and to see all that work come to fruition and get a win is incredible,” said Ng.
After carding a 66, 67, and 66 for the first 54 holes, the New York native found himself leading the field heading into the final round. Ng, who was 4-under-par on the front nine for the previous three rounds, kept the momentum going as he made the turn with a bogey-free 1-under-par 34 on the final day.
With only nine holes standing in between him and the trophy, Ng finished with three more birdies and a bogey for a back nine score of a 2-under 33, putting him at a 3-under-par 67 to take the win.
Now with PGA Tour Q-School right around the corner, Ng said this win will be a big step for motivation heading into pre-qualifying.
“With Q-School in a couple of weeks, I’m feeling super good about my game and where I’m at so hopefully I can just ride the momentum and keep it going,” said Ng.
The first two sites for pre-qualifying for Q-School will be held at Bull Valley Golf Club in Woodstock, IL and The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, NC, September 11-13.
