Third Round of Firewheel Classic Ends with Dramatic Weather Delays

(Garland, TX) - As the third round of the Firewheel Classic drew to a close, it was marked by a series of dramatic weather events that tested the resilience of players on the course. The day began with humid conditions typical of the region, but it soon took a turn when heavy downpours swept in at noon, forcing an unexpected halt to proceedings.

Amidst the rain, players and spectators alike sought shelter, waiting anxiously for the weather to relent. After enduring a two-hour rain delay, the action resumed at 2:45 PM, only to be interrupted again by another downpour at 4:15 PM. However, the spirit of competition prevailed, and at 5:00 PM, the players finally returned to finish the round.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, one player managed to shine through it all. Zach James from Whitesboro, Texas, emerged as the new leader after an outstanding performance. James displayed remarkable consistency and skill, carding an impressive 7-under par with a bogey-free round.

With his stellar performance, James now holds a one-shot lead heading into the final round of the tournament. His composure and precision under pressure have positioned him as a formidable contender for the championship title.

As the Firewheel Classic reaches its climax, all eyes will be on Zach James as he strives to maintain his lead and secure victory in what promises to be an exhilarating finale.

The final round begins at 8:00 AM CT with players being sorted by score, with the leaders teeing off last. The field will be competing for their share of the $142,500 purse and the winner will take home $23,000.
